Memories of "The Way We Were"

Memories of "The Way We Were"

"Lucy"  our Tiffin Motorhome in her garage

August 2012 we began the great adventure,  traveling for a year in a motor home full time.  Who knew it would be so hard  to give up the nomad life style!    We have been back in our home in Clarksville Tennessee for a month. We were blessed with amazing renters, so the house looks great.  Everything was in it's place within three days of moving in.   Now what do we do?  The neighbors are great, the "new subdivision" we live in has grown since we left a year ago. We have picked up where we left off with our neighbors and  our dear friends Brenda and Joe Douglas.

My nesting instinct has dissappeared!  Life was so simple in  our motor home.  We had all our basic needs with us, in 35 feet of space.  I enjoy gardening, but I enjoy looking at a beautiful garden far more than the upkeep of a yard and garden. I enjoy having a clean house, 35 feet with central vac system saves so much time!   Hand washing dishes right after a meal didn't take any time.   Why do we need so many dishes and pots and pans in the house?   We certainly don't need all the clothes we unboxed to fill up the big walk in closet...we didn't use them for a year maybe it is time to get rid of them.

Yes,  reality has  now set in.  We managed just fine without all our "things" and now that we are back among the "things"  all I can think about is getting rid of all of it!  I honestly felt closer to each of our three children and our extended family while we were out traveling.  If we were needed, we just pulled in the slides, hooked up the tow and  we were on our way.    Bob thought he was missing his mail, but in one month back home each trip to the mail box is to retrieve junk mail!

We learned a lot while on the road.  We learned we could manage with less, and less was more! I know  it isn't the life for everyone.  I wouldn't expect most to understand.  But those that enjoy the traveling and the simple things would love it!  We met so many interesting people, and were blessed with the opportunity of living life as a vacation for a year!  So you ask, what next?

We have put our home on the market For Sale!  We are planning to get rid of alot of stuff!  What the family doesn't want we will sell or donate.  I still have some furnishings I don't want to part with, so they will go back into storage when the house sells.   We are going to get back on the road as soon as possible, and continue the adventure:)

For now we will live with the memories of "The Way We Were On The Road" and make plans for the next adventure!   Hope to see ya'll out on the road soon, safe travels:)
